Last Sunday, 8th of December the Men’s C team was hosting Gråå and Alingsås in Valhalla hallen. We had a full squad consisting of Erik H (S), Abe (S), Bobby (OP), Ross (OP), Chen (OP), Arvid (MI), Henrik (MI), Chao (MI), Artem (OH), Aleksejs (OH), Adam (OH), Ali (OH), Georgios (L) and Aris (L).
Our first match against Gråå started quite unfocused and the opponents outside and middle made unexpectedly great attacks. It ended in a 1:3 loss. The MVP of the match was opposite Ross who summarized the match:
"We started the first set a bit naively, giving Gråå too many easy free balls from which they punished us. The second set was similar tough with more fight from our team but getting stuck in certain rotations caused us to bleed points freely. In the third set, we fought hard but found ourselves at 18-24 down. With some tough serving and a gargantuan team effort we turned the set around to win it 26-24. Into the fourth set we had a lot more confidence and a more rounded team performance which got us into an early lead. However, a tricky rotation ate away at our lead and the match became scrappy. Despite a great effort, Gråå scraped the set 24-26 this winning the game 1-3."
Second match, we faced a young team from Alingsås. Despite having found some better focus, too many balls were played easy over giving our opponents many opportunities to score and force mistakes on our side. We lost this one 0:3.
Player of the match was Artem who showed great defense and nice spikes. His reflections of the match:
"Our game against Alingsås was a curious rally. While the opponent was utilizing the free balls to the powerful attacks from the middle and playing safe from the sides otherwise, we confidently fought back their best swings but got surprised by some random overpasses. We got a nice improvement in communication: there were a lot of good calls, tips, and cheering inside the court and from the bench. We'll surely evolve and polish our game with time and discipline."
We will work hard to get strengthened for the upcoming matches. Coach Thomas
