Last match day for 2023 - one of those days

End of the match day after 1:3 fight against Falköping

Third advent on 17/12, the Gothia Men's C team played their last match day in our home hall against Majorna and Falköping. First time in full strength but early in the morning not everyone was quite ready.

The squad was build of Abe, Trent, Ali, Gencalp, Manos, Vale, Adam, Shirish, Yahgoub,  Dennis and Georgios.

We started our first match against Majorna not with our highest energy but stayed calm and focused keeping up with very strong hitters on the other side. Our defense was good and we kept going back and forth until half way through the first set. Some individual errors and the mental backlash made us lose focus. Eventually, the first set was lost and we could not recover through the match. Our serve-receive was too shaky to keep up with our opponents. 

In the second match, we faced Falköping - a young but energized team. We could not capitalize on the height difference of some of their players and were overall unfocused and had not a good vibe. It felt like we were still pondering over the lost before. The second set, we had some strong serve sequences and managed to suddenly play great volleyball showing some of our abilities when we are light-headed. Unfortunately, it should not have been our day and we fell back in the chaotic playing style with many errors and little momentum. So, match 2 also got lost 1:3.

You learn the most from your defeats. So, we gather our strength over the Christmas break and fill our minds with positive thoughts and happy moments to come back stronger in the next year.

This was also the debut match for one of our junior players - Adam. Special thanks also for the good atmosphere created by the other Gothia Juniors who cheered for us.
