Season starts with win

Last Sunday Oct 2nd, the volleyball season in Div 3 started for Gothia men's C team. This year playing in region Västra means new opponents and less travel time both appreciated by our motivated team with many familiar faces from the previous season. Since we played in Göteborg, we brought a full squad and everyone eager to play. With us were Abe, Erik, Shirish, Sajad, Pierlo, Manos, Samir, Victor, Trent, Jarl, Georgios S., Georgios R. and Dennis. This years goal is clearly to be more competitive and have extra fun.

Our first match started against Falköping and we put a good fight up. We kept the balls alive and showed impressive defensive abilities with nice three touch volleyball. We stayed tight with our opponents and managed to take the second set after a very close loss in the first one. In the third set, we were again very close and only smaller mistakes prevented a win. A bit discouraged, the game went in favor of our opponent 1:3 (21:25, 25:23, 22:25, 15:25).

In the second match, we wanted to make it better. Playing against Gråå for the first time, we started strong and took the first set. The second and third set were hard-fought and we showed some nerves losing them both by a only two points. But we still had some energy in us and thanks to an amazing crowd of supporters, we fought back taking the fourth set. The final decisive set was a nail-biter going back in forth. We managed to keep it cool and take the first win of the season at the first match day (3:2, 25:21, 24:26, 25:27, 25:23, 15:8).

Looking forward to an amazing season with such an energetic and fun team.
