Gothia C away matches in Skara

On Sunday 10th November the Men’s C team headed out to Skara for two away matches against Habo and the host Skara. We had a full squad consisting of Erik H (S), Abe (S), Ross (OP), Chen (OP), Andre (MI), Henrik (MI), Adam (MI), Manos (MI), Chao (OH), Jacob (OH), Ali (OH), Artem (OH), Dennis (L) and Aleksej (L). The day started with a dominating 3:0 victory of Habo over Skara.

Our first match against Habo, a team with many young talents, started slightly sleepy. The opponents had strong jump serves and very stable system play. We tried to play our game but got constantly under pressure and fell behind early always trying to catch up. It ended in a 0:3 loss. The MVP of the match was setter Erik who reflects on the match as following:

"Unfortunately, we suffered a quite decisive loss against the volleyball power house that is Habo but fortunately it's a loss to learn from. We had our moments of decent rallies however, especially when utilizing smart tips, and the spirit of the players were relatively high despite the result.

All in all, this was the first actual good team we have faced so far and seeing the higher level of gameplay -- be it the block synchronization, strong serves or the offense being able to play quicker balls, should make us strive to become better both as individuals and as a team."   Second match against host Skara, we started out dominating but did lack focus and a bit spirit as well. It was a constant up and down ending in a super tight loss in five sets. Our libero Dennis was voted MVP. Here is his perspective: "We played decently the first half of the game against Skara, but errors kept piling up on our side which led to low fighting spirit and thus imminent defeat. We didn't leave empty handed however as we got 1 point and a learning experience or two."
