Tonight’s draw: Getting back some points

Tonight was the most important match of the league. We met a mid-table AxReal Estate side. This was the team we were potentially able to overplay, and we desperately needed points to increase our chances to stay in Div 2. We started really well, holding the possession and making very few mistakes. The tactics were to try grab the ball with high press for a short while, and if we were unable to do so, we retreated to positional low defence. This allowed us to capitalise on the opponents’ mistakes, while not die from fatigue doing high press. This proved a good approach, as after Houssam’s low shot, Armin managed to flick the ball, changing its direction and confusing the goalie, 1:0! Unfortunately, soon after that, Lukas fouled on an opponent striker and got a yellow card. This meant one man down. We managed to defend well, and did not conceal any goals during this period. However, just very close to the end, the opponents managed to restore the draw. An unattended central midfielder got the ball and tried a shot from far, which went through a bunch of people in the penalty box and landed in the left corner of Emin’s goal, 1:1. After that, we tried to score, and actually had some good chances, but that was the final score. Notably, we had MANY really good chances (maybe 6-7, or something) during the match and could have easily won. However, the opponents were quite lucky in this respect. In sum, 1 point in an important match, and we remain in the game for the survival in this league. Let’s do our best in the upcoming matches! Man of the match: Moudar.
