Hard fought scrums

It was a beautiful sunny day , the lads were still running high from a smashing win against Gothenburg the week prior. Even if a little sore. After a dominant first few minutes and a saucy 50/ 22 from captain Stew, Will took a quick penalty showing his new scrum cap was doing the trick protecting his last few brain cells. Then Michael showed he was worth the wait dashing for the line coming up just short. And Jack made use of his unusually long arms to stretch just over the line for his first try for Plebs! Gustav put the cherry on top of the cake with a lovely conversion. A great team try before even 4 minutes were on the clock, but Hammarby had plenty of fight yet to give.
Hammarby came straight back at it, but with some great defensive work from Uppsala they managed to hold up the ball denying Hammarby the try. The ball was kicked back and forth with great work and communication from the back three. Many hard fought scrums with Uppsala and Hammarby taking turns to be the victor. Joss or, as he is now more commonly known as, Mr tape lasted only one of these brutal scrums before popping his shoulder out (again); his hard runs would be sadly missed. However Uppsala kept going and after some beautiful hands down the line, Ben made a great run for the try line coming nail bitingly close, only to be battered into touch. Or did he? TMO could have something to say but we don’t have one. Not to fear, Luca jumped like a gazelle, flew into the air and stole the line out just five meters from the line. Will took a mad dash for the line and was stopped by some great defence from Hammarby. But nothing could stop Michael sprinting full pace over the line. Another try to end the first half 12-0.
Hammarby came back strong in the second half and scored a penalty kick. There were some heavy hits, great runs and even better tackles from both sides throughout the second half. Hammarby let the ball go loose in the closing minutes of the match, and Stew snapped it up and ran half the pitch, dodging and weaving his way to the try line. Putting the final nail in the coffin for Hammarby hopes of victory. 17- 3 to Uppsala.
Gustav put in an incredible shift on the field running so hard he’d give a train a run for his money. But there was no Compound V in sight, just a superior vegan diet fuelling this Adonis, winning him a well earned man of the match. And dick of the day was given to Michael for gracing us with his presence only an hour late. Now for a well earned rest before we meet Hammarby again. This time away against a team we know will be eager for revenge!
