A salty defeat on the West coast

After finishing last in Allsvenskan Norra the Plebs travelled down to a sunny Gothenburg to face off against Gothenburg Rugby Club in the playoffs. Plebs knew that the game would be a tough one, but the boys from Uppsala have never been known to back down from a challenge!

Uppsala started out strong in the first 10 minutes of the game, securing a 3 point lead from a penalty and managed to hold back Gothenburg's attacks. But Plebs could only hold them back for so long until Gothenburg broke through the defence and scored the game's first try. Gothenburg kept attacking and broke through the defence two more times, resulting in a 17-3 lead. Plebs managed to hold them back for the rest of the half, and with a few quick hands and good runs Uppsala's Hampus managed to break through the defensive line and score a try, before half time. The score at half time was then 17-10 for the home team.

The second half turned out to be even tougher than the first half for Plebs... Not having a full bench of substitutes, injuries during the game and injuries from previous games made it hard to stand up against the Gothenburg attacks, who managed to break through the Uppsala defence several times. To make things worse, Will was shown the red card after having (accidentally) elbowed a guy in the head, according to the ref on the side line. The boys did their best to keep the morale high and managed to create some good phases but weren't able to break through Gothenburg's defensive line. Towards the end of the game, Michael managed to take advantage of a missed pass from a Gothenburg player and could easily place the ball between the posts. The conversion was unfortunately missed and the game ended in a salty 53-15 defeat for the boys from Uppsala… After the social at the Gothenburg clubhouse, Plebs hit the town to explore the Gothenburg nightlife to at least get some good memories from the West coast! Plebs will now recieve Gothenburg in Uppsala next weekend.
