Hello youths and parents!
Well, what a weekend with some superb weather and amazing rugby! Our lads played together with Borås Rugby to fill out the numbers.
We started of with a great win against Pingvin rugby and in high spirit faced later on the day the Danish Groningen team. Though we struggled in the first half, we came back stronger in the second half. But it was a bit too late, but we went down with our flag held high! Hard tough rugby was shown with some superb defence.
But still, we got thru to to the Semifinals. :)
The second day we were hyped to reach the gold finals. But Eriksala proved to be a bit too tough for us to chew. We played some amazing rugby, but their bigger players proved a bit too much for us to handle. So we ended up in the Bronze final against Vänersborg. We had the hype, we had the will, but again just fell short due to the superb skill of some of the Vänersborg players. Again, we played some hard rugby, big carries and a strong will. So close on so many occasions, but Vänersborg quick as ever, penalizing us with fast players and we just couldn't keep up.
So we ended up in the 4th place overall.
Even though it might seem a bit disappointing to not grab any medals, I'm still super proud of our lads. They played the most amazing rugby throughout these 2 days.
The lads learned a lot by facing these teams. How to cope with bigger players, something we don't really get here in the west. The small suggestions and talks inbetween the games. The heroics and strengths from a lot of individuals. There was so much positive things going on, so it felt extremely tough to not grab medals from this cup.
Now we have a huge task to weave all these things together to aim for medals in the USM! :)
We have 1 more training this Tuesday before we call for a summerbreak.
With all of the above said, again, can't praise more on how proud I am of the amazing rugby our boys play and how amazing the lads themselves are.
See you all on Tuesday.
Cheers // Coach Jan-Joel

Thanks for the all the encouragement, coaching, and training JJ.
Arthur absolutely loves rugby -- the training and the matches with this team and you as coach.
I've got some great photos so please parents let me know if you want some with your players in (or not!). I cannot guarantee I have good photos of everyone

Great work JJ. Yes, the boys had a tough couple of days but they never gave up which shows great character, drive and passion. 💪.

You have done a great job with this young fellas JJ. It’s not easy the first year at a new age grade. I’ve done that journey twice as a youth coach.
Learn and improve this year and go for the medals next year.

Thank you JJ for leading and training the boys. So much they have learned and improved. It was tough however the way they played was amazing. Great leadership skills they have shown on the field too. So proud of them. Pim enjoyed the games. Despite the losses, he felt proud to play the game of rugby with his friends. He talks about how he has improved and acknowledges his areas of improvement. Thank you Isaac for your support and advice, encouraging Pim on his potential. Leadership and sportmanship - love it!
