Selection Framework
General Policy
- Membership of Västerås Cricket Club grants access to our facility and training sessions. Selection in one of our three competitive teams is not a certainty as a member but based on performance too. Training and practice match proficiency are key criteria for selection.
- We aim to provide chances to as many members as possible, however adhering to the point above, this will only eventuate without compromising the competitive vantage of our teams.
- Adhering to the league rules, players who feature for one of our div. 1 teams cannot feature across the same division and format. Therefore players will not be able to represent both Hurricanes and Thunder.
- The selectors do not consider any of the players as permanently assigned to any one team, apart from the restrictions mentioned above.
- If a player feels they are not getting enough playing time, we encourage them to discuss this with us. The pathway back into a team for the player shall accelerate if we together work on the expectations and skills they can improve to be part of our competitive circle again.
Player responsibilities
- Adhere to our club standards and guidelines on player discipline.
- Advocate for friendly, fun and feedback-based communication amongst members.
- Communicate with the captain(s) to identify what your role is in a particular team and what is expected from you.

- Be aware of surroundings and intervene in case of a safety risk. For instance, be aware and intervene if youngsters are standing in the line of and/or with their backs facing a batter in the nets.
Selection Criteria
- Good discipline and general conduct are prerequisites for all cricketing activities a player participates in.
- Players must aim to attend their team specific practice session. And, a player should train at least once in the week leading up to the weekend match.
- For selection, a player's physical fitness along with fielding proficiencies carry the same weight as their role specific (general terms batting and bowling) skills.
- The players would be slotted into a team based on the requirements of the team.
- Apart from performance, there are more criterias to count in for a player selection which in itself is an exhaustive list to be posted here.
- The selectors are always approachable to have a friendly conversation over one’s selection in the team.
Note: This list will keep improving as we progress and learn along the season.
