Yesterday’s game against Lund was exactly what the team was expecting to have happen.  Since the first time we played them, we knew we were capable of beating this team.  However we let that opportunity pass us back then, and weren’t going to let it happen a second time.  

The team has done so much evolving as a collective whole, despite the numerous set backs we encountered, and everyone has truly grown since the beginning.  It was truly gratifying to see this growth all come together in this last match.  The team came out very strong in the first set and didn’t let Lund have a chance to control the game.  However going into the second set, we struggled with our passing and serving errors which allowed Lund to take the lead.  Despite our valiant effort to bridge the gap in the score, it was just too little too late.  Lund took the second set which left us with a 1-1 situation going into our ten minute timeout.  This was precisely the same situation we had the first time we played them back in the first half of season.  

However this is where we our personal and collective growth came into play.  We all knew that we deserved this win and weren’t going to let our chance slip away.  The team came out with a tremendous desire and focus and did the job we had to do.  Vilma and Sofie’ blocking were some of the best we’ve seen all season.  Makenzie as always picked up her tempo and once again earned us 26 points over the course of the match.  Edyta hit some of the best balls she’s attacked all year.  Elin made important passes and digs exactly when we needed them.  And Emma and Oli distributed the ball extremely well.  These two setters stepped up in a massive way which is certainly not an easy thing to do.  

The team commanded the lead throughout the third and fourth set and never looked back.  We set the goal to finish our season off with a win, and that’s precisely what we did.  As a player and a coach, I am more than proud of this group of girls.  Although our journey in the Eliteserien was turbulent, finishing with a win was a great way to add a positive element to it all.  

We would like to express our deepest gratitude to the club, our sponsors, and supporters.  This experience would not have been made possible without all of the hard work, sacrifice, and dedication that so many of you provided us.  The team is extremely grateful and appreciative of everything you have all done.  We recognize that playing in Sweden’s top division takes a lot of hard work and discipline as players, but even harder work and discipline behind the scenes.  So for that, we thank you.  Thank you for having the foresight and commitment in taking us this far, and we hope to continue moving forward together stronger than before.  Tack så mycket!
