Uphill battle

Sunday, the girls head out on the road traveling a good distance to play Hylte Halmstad. With the major changes within the team, and very frequent game schedule, there hasn't been too much time to properly adapt to everything. A lot needs to get done to prepare the new setters for this fast paced season. Sunday's game will be another chance for the team to develop and learn where our focus needs to be.
Hylte Halmstad is currently ranked in the top five in the league, and will undoubtedly be a strong opponent. The team's focus will be to do the little things right, and get back to the basics. Such as the game against Engelholm, the team will need to be prepared to bring a strong defense and block in order to compete. As there are such dramatic changes in very important positions, proper positioning and communication is our focus. Once again smaller goals within the game will be the objective as opposed to an unrealistic one of winning the match. As always though - a game isn't won until it is earned. And making Hylte earn the game is definitely among those smaller goals. The team goes in believing we can win against any opponent despite the losing streak, and will certainly fight as hard as we can to do so. Everyone is working extremely hard to make up for the players that left the team, and we remain hopeful that with time and patience our time will come.

Today our team walks away from this game with our heads held high. We played exceptionally well together as a team, and finally managed to utilize all of our attacking options. Despite the absence of our libero Andrea Dahlsberg, the reception remained strong. Vilma Rosengren did a great job in the back row, and Edyta Dyjak stepped up well all around.
The girls managed to stay with Hylte Hamlstad the entire first set. With some strong defensive plays, we led for the last part of the game. At 24-21 the team needed a simple side out to close out the set, but with a strategic substitution on Hylte's end, they managed to close out the gap. The battle continued back and forth all the way to 30-28 when Hylte managed to win in the end. Despite the loss, the team pulled together really well.
The second set was also well fought. Hylte managed to get a few point runs that allowed them to close out the set a bit easier then the first. However the team played with a lot of fun and a positive atmosphere.
Moving into the last set was the only disappointing part of the game. The girls seemed to have lost their focus and found ourselves with a 10-0 deficit. Once we finally woke up and started playing again, it was too late to catch up. The team needs to find a way to remain concentrated after the 2 set ten minute break, and come back in with the same focus as the beginning.
The team continues to gain experience with our new setters and is constantly progressing. With a bit of time, all of the hard work will eventually pay off. For now our focus shifts towards our next game at home versus Sollentuna on Wednesday at 19:00. If the team plays like we did today, a positive outcome can be expected. Hope to see you there!
