The fruits of our labour

Since the beginning of August, Degerfors Orion has been training week in, week out. With a lot of blood, sweat, and tears, the team has tirelessly put in the work trying to compete in the Elitserien. To date, we have yet to earn a victory. But, victory is upon us. The team is finally facing off against one of the lower ranked teams in the series, which allows for a potential opportunity - should the team take it.
Saturday at 15:00, Degerfors plays a not so stable Gislaved, with a home court advantage. Based on game analysis, Gislaved doesn't appear to be very strong in reception and defense. This is where we will focus on being better then them, and capitalize on making points. Their team has a strong setter and middle that will need to be stopped, and the team will have to work hard to do so.
Mental strength and focus is an absolute must going into this game. As we all know - anything can happen in the game of volleyball - and the team will have to show up, ready to battle to earn this win. Gislaved will not give us the game easily, so fans can expect to see a real fight.
We hope to see you all there, and we thank everyone for the continued support on this journey in the Elitserien!
Unexpected loss

The loss against Gislaved is immensely disappointing. The team finally faced an opponent that could be beat, but due to unexpected circumstances, found themselves without their captain and setter Lillemor Ingebrand. This had a very big impact on the team, and although Emma Lindbladh did a good job filling her shoes, the team couldn't rise above the task at hand.
The biggest flaw in this game was the blocking. We actually had none. And in high level volleyball it just isn't possible to go without a block. As a result, our defense couldn't make any digs, and Gislaved managed to win quite easily.
Unfortunately the team is now facing some very large challenges moving forward without Lili. The Degerfors girls will need to find a new way to make things work, which will no doubt come at a cost.
