Wednesday evening the Degerfors girls welcome Örebro for yet another match up in Storavalla Hallen. It is no secret that the game will be a very tough one, as Örebro sits in third place in the Eliteserien. So, for every difficult opponent we face, smaller goals within the game will be the focus for this match.
The main goal for this game will be to reduce the team’s serving errors. Based on past games’ statistics, the team is always making far too many direct mistakes at the service line. Not only are we helping the opponent win a lot easier, but we are killing any momentum we get in doing so. Therefore the goal will be to have our serving error stats in the single digits when the game is all said and done. No matter how many sets we play!
The second goal for this game will be to reconnect as a team, find our fighting spirit, and play as well as we finished off before the Christmas break. The upcoming weeks are filled with many games to come, and it is very crucial to find the positive groove we had and generate some confidence and fun moving forward.
It is never easy going into a game against a stronger opponent, but the team needs to believe we are capable of anything and force our opponents to earn their victories as opposed to just handing them over.
The team looks forward to seeing all of our fans at our first home game back after the holidays!!

Tonight’s game against Örebro began on a very rocky note. The team couldn’t find a stable reception to counter Örebro’s strategic serving. As a result, everything suffered. We couldn’t get a decent set to our attackers, and our attackers were forced to make due with what they got. The plays were very predictable and unfortunately the team just couldn’t find their game. The performance of the squad was certainly much lower then what we’re capable of doing.
However, things took a more positive turn going into the second and third set. The team woke themselves up a bit and stabilized the reception. A fighting spirit came alive in the team as nobody felt good with the way we were performing. Klara came into the game and served some very important strong serves and although the match was lost, it was a much more respectable score in the end. 25-18 and 25-21.
Going into the match we set a goal of reducing our serving errors which we did achieve. Only four serves were missed throughout the game, and this will be a very important element for the team moving forward. Although we were disappointed with the first set, the team needs to remember that feeling and how badly it felt, and work a lot harder so we don’t have to feel it ever again.
