After two weeks off with no games, the Degerfors girls are ready for some home court action this weekend. Sunday the team faces off against Svedala at 15:00 in Stora Vallahallen.
Despite not having any games these last few weeks, the team has still been training very hard every day. We’ve been working a lot of reception and hit coverage which seemed to be some of the important factors going into this match. Svedala has a tall line up and appear to be quite strong blockers. The girls will need to find ways around this big block, and be prepared to cover our own attack.
Every training our setters continue taking steps forward in their new roles, and the team is beginning to run various different plays outside of the standard sets. We hope to utilize some of these new attacks to give the team a different look then before.
The game will as always be a difficult one to win, but the atmosphere and team dynamic is better then ever. Every player is eager for a win, and the fighting spirit continues to increase at each practice. We hope with the support of our fans we can achieve something positive this weekend. So please come out and support us as always, and we thank you for your continued interest in our season.

Losing today’s game in the way that we did is the worst way to lose. Svedala did not have to do much to earn this win, and that is very disappointing. Sadly the team had zero fire or fight in our game, and we let ourselves get walked all over. Identifying something specific as to why we lost is difficult to pin point. We played scrambled, disorganized, and with no heart.
Despite Svedala’s big presence at the net, we didn’t execute the game plan set forth. We had specific serving targets to serve, and defensive zones to attack. Yet we failed to follow the plan. Svedala didn’t have to battle us very hard, as we beat our own selves. The confidence and mental strength in the team was at an all time low, and we never really got to see the fighting Degerfors team.
With four matches left in this first half of season, it is imperative to finally earn a win. As always, I maintain this is more then achievable against the teams we have left to face. But this will only come when the girls come together and play as a team. Fighting for each other. Trusting each other. And supporting one another. The team needs some internal positivity and only with this will we ever take a step forward.
