Saturday the Degerfors girls find themselves back on the road to play Lindesberg. After 8 straight losses it certainly is challenging for the team to continue remaining hopeful and optimistic - yet we are. We have seen a steady improvement at each and every game, despite every twist and turn we’ve been hit with, and we continue to see a deeper team connection then ever before. When faced with adversity teams can react in two ways. Fortunately with us, we’ve taken the right reaction and have bonded together stronger then before. Despite the many losses, we still have our heads held high, and are enjoying the game.
This week’s trainings have been very positive. We’ve found a new way to work on the issues that have been holding us back, and the girls have taken a real step forward once again. We are well aware of Lindesberg’s attacking strengths on the outside, and are consistently trying to better ourselves to counteract these facts. After some productive game analysis we’ve discovered a few important things in our own game that we need to correct, and hope to find an even greater improvement in doing so.
The focus for this game will be to utilize all of our attacking options, and be less predictable to our opponent. As always we need to be strong servers to limit their strong offense. We hope to at least take one set in this game, and need to truly believe in ourselves that it is a realistic goal. We thank everyone who has helped the team up till now, and truly hope that you will continue to stand by us throughout this difficult season.
Missed opportunities...

Thinking about yesterday's game against Lindesberg is quite unpleasant. It's not the fact of losing that makes it disappointing, but rather the fact that the team didn't even show up to play. As always, we had a real shot at doing something positive with the game. Lindesberg was down their star player due to a knee injury, and the team was certainly not as strong as usual without her.
Degerfors simply went through the motions and couldn't generate any type of focus or enthusiasm for the task at hand. We lost quite badly in the first set : 25 - 10. This was no where near representative of the week of training we just completed leading up to this game. It wasn't until halfway through the second set that the team finally woke up and started playing to our actual ability. Unfortunately it was too late and Lindesberg closed the second set at 25 - 16.
After the ten minute break and some realization that we still weren't performing to our maximum potential, the team finally came out as we should've from the get go. We fought point for point with Lindesberg and gave them a real battle which we should've been doing the entire time. With a few unforced errors, Lindesberg ended up winning 25 - 21. So although we finished strong, there was no reason to start out as weak as we had. This is where the real disappointment lies - with a missed opportunity. It's one thing to lose a game knowing you did everything you could to fight for it, but this wasn't the case yesterday. We know what type of team we can be, despite the lost setters and numerous challenges. We just still haven't found the way to execute it to date. The absolute focus, concentration, and 100% effort required is lacking, and it is imperative that the team finds a way to fix this immediately. It is every girl's personal responsibility to get their heads into the game and do what they signed up to do. We go into a new week with this thought in mind, and our second shot at Sollentuna Saturday.
